Cash and Hygiene Kit Distribution for Returnee Families – Herat

The Cash and Hygiene Kit Distribution Project, funded by Caritas Austria, is a two-month emergency response initiative running from August to October 2025, with a total budget of €17,300. Implemented by the Organization for Development Programs of Afghanistan (ODPA), the project targets 125 highly vulnerable returnee households in Herat City who are struggling to rebuild their lives after returning from displacement.

Through this project, each household will receive cash assistance of €80 (or its equivalent in AFN), following the Cash and Voucher Working Group (CVWG) guidance. This support enables families to meet their immediate food and non-food needs based on their priorities. In addition, each household will receive one complete hygiene kit, designed according to WASH Cluster standards, to improve household sanitation and reduce the risk of disease outbreaks, particularly among children and women.

This integrated and community-focused approach ensures that assistance is cost-effective, time-sensitive, and dignity-preserving, empowering returnee families to address their most urgent needs while promoting health, hygiene, and resilience within the affected communities of Herat.
